عَنْ أمِّ المُؤمِنينَ [أمِّ عبْدِ اللهِ عائشةَ] رَضِي اللهُ عَنْهَا قالَتْ: (قالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "مَنْ أَحْدَثَ فِي أَمْرِنَا هَذَا مَا لَيْسَ مِنْهُ فَهُوَ رَدٌّ". رواه البخاريُّ ومسلمٌ. وفي روايةٍ لمسلمٍ: "مَنْ عَمِلَ عَمَلاً لَيْسَ عَلَيهِ أَمْرُنا فَهُوَ رَدٌّ").
From the Mother of the Believers, Umm ʿAbd Allāh ʿĀʾishah (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhā) who said:
The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu alayhi wasallam) said, "Whoever introduces something into this affair of ours that is not from it will have it rejected." And in the narration of Muslim, "Whoever does an action that is not from our affair will have it rejected."
The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu alayhi wasallam) said, "Whoever introduces something into this affair of ours that is not from it will have it rejected." And in the narration of Muslim, "Whoever does an action that is not from our affair will have it rejected."
