Ramadhaan Article For Sisters, By Umm Abdillaah

ASALAMA LAYKUM SISTERS

As Ramadhan is an important opportunity to review the Quran as much as one can, we should also make sure we are practicing Islam inside and outside of Ramadhan, We shouldn’t be “Muslims” only in Ramadhan, A Muslim is someone who COMPLETELY surrenders to Allah. If a sister is not wearing proper hijaab but makes sure she is wearing the proper hijaab(no makeup, plucked eyebrows, jeans etc) in Ramadhan, she should fear Allah and turn to Allah completely and make sure she is fulfilling the conditions of the obligatory hijaab completely. Islam is a comprehensive deen and not part time thing as some people assume.
On the authority of Abu Dharr Jundub ibn Junaadah, and Abu ‘Abd-ir-Rahmaan Mu’aadh bin Jabal (radiAllaahu anhumaa) that the Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said :
Have Taqwaa (Fear) of Allaah wherever you may be, and follow up a bad deed with a good deed which will wipe it out, and behave well towards the people.
It was related by at-Tirmidhee, who said it was a Hasan (Good) Hadeeth, and in some copies it is stated to be aHasan Saheeh Hadeeth.
So Ramadhan is not a time to fear Allah, it is a time to strengthen your fear of Allah. Once, we make sure we are praying our 5 obligatory prayers regularly we should add the nawafil and sunnah prayers. For instance, if you were use to praying 2 rakaat of salat ad-Duhaa, you should make it 4 rakaat during Ramadhan or 8(maximum number of Duhaa prayer).
Ramadhan is also the month of the Quran, Allah azza wa jall says, “The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong).”(Surah al Baqarah:185)
The prophet(salaAllahu alayhi wassalam) said, ““Fasting and the Quran will intercede for the slave on the Day of Resurrection. Fasting will say, ‘O My Rabb! I prevented him from food and desires, so accept my intercession for him.’ And the Quran will say, ‘I prevented him from sleep during the night, so accept my intercession for him.’ He sallaAllahu alayhe wasallam said, ‘And they will (be allowed to) intercede.’”
(Ahmad)
we should review the Quran as much as we can, if one cannot read it properly, then they should review the surahs they know and Allah will reward them! If one cannot read the Quran at all, listening to it helps. We should gain much knowledge even in Ramadhan. For example, we can read articles, ahadeeth, ayaat on fasting. We can read what the scholars have said on fasting and rulings related to it.
May Allah make us from the people of the Quran!! May Allah also make it a proof for us and not against us!
