UAE Friday sermon: Protect the young from destructive ideas
In the Quran, young people are mentioned in a positive light a number of times.
One verse describes a group of young men as: “We narrate unto thee their story with truth. Lo! They were young men who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance.”
Another verse describes the Prophet Yahia (John) when he was young saying: “[And it was said unto his son]: O John! Hold fast the Scripture. And we gave him wisdom when a child.”
Therefore, protecting the youth of the nation is vital “especially in this time with the prevalence of modern devices, which can quickly spread false information that has the power to influence minds and thoughts”.
This allows young people into being manipulated to commit acts that harm their religion, society and country.
“Many youngsters are tricked into destroying their stability under the claim they are establishing freedom and victory for Islam,” the sermon will say. But in reality this is all misleading. It obligates us to commit all our efforts to preserve our youth from intrusive ideas and notions. Prevention is better than treatment.”
The best way to protect the youth is by teaching them a strong moral code.
“With that, their true sense of religion grows, as well as national commitment and loyalty to the leadership. They are in a protected fort.”
Also, people should check the credibility of information and not believe everything published on the internet and social media, the sermon will conclude.
